The mission of CCCS is to strengthen and improve the financial condition of families, individuals, and the community. Through individual counseling, advocacy, community education and financial management programs, CCCS counselors help families gain the knowledge and skills needed to solve current financial difficulties, prevent future problems, and implement the attitude and actions needed to pursue financial success. The outcome of these efforts is reduced emotional and physical stress, improved personal finances, financial stability, and a better quality of life.
Regardless of income, marital status, gender, or education, life events such as a job loss, illness, and emergencies can negatively impact the financial well being of anyone at anytime. As such, CCCS serves a broad and diverse group of area residents. Whether it is a victim of domestic violence or a family facing a job loss, the common denominator remains stress, anxiety, and the desire to find answers and a strategy to regain financial stability.
This year CCCS counselors assisted over 1,776 area individuals with professional financial analysis offering information, recommendations, a budget, and a financial action plan. The agency also assisted over 445 area families providing monthly debt repayment services. Over $2,100,000 was disbursed to local and national creditors. With a structured budget and debt repayment plan these individuals met current credit obligations, managed their personal family budgets, and maintained or improved their credit ratings.
Our program has received approval from the United States Trustee's office to provide bankruptcy counseling and credit education to state residents contemplating or filing bankruptcy.
Community financial outreach has been and will remain a key component of the agency's services. CCCS staff provided over 75 community financial education presentations, this year, reaching over 1,111 residents. In support of its community education work the agency applied for and received nationally recognized grants from Bank of America and Citigroup. Support provided by United Way of North Rock County and Stateline United Way also remains critical and a valued component allowing CCCS to continue its service as a community financial resource.
Throughout 2009 the efforts of our experienced and caring staff will continue to remain focused on providing financial services and solutions that empower area families with the resources, skills, and knowledge to achieve financial stability, self-sufficiency and success.
