mission

is to lower the rate of domestic violence through provision of empowering services to women, men, children, LGBTQ members and the community.

We provide legal advocacy, case managers and long-term emotional support.

A 24-hour crisis hotline, 365 days a year

An 11-room emergency shelter

Hotel vouchers upon funding made available

A Children's Program to serve children affected by domestic violence

A parenting curriculum that focuses on families that have experienced abuse

Support groups for women, men and the LGBTQ community

Services provided in Spanish

Legal advocacy for assistance with restraining orders 

A victim services representative to accompany you to court for emotional support

Individual emotional support by phone or in person

Access to a case manager for support in achieving goals

"What can I do if I'm being abused?"

1. If you, or someone else, is in danger, call 911. 

2. Call the BDVSC Helpline for support and information. 

3. Get medical attention if you or someone else is hurt. Tell the doctor how the injury occurred and ask that it be documented. 

4. Have someone take pictures of the injuries and date them.

5. A Domestic Violence Restraining Order is free and is available through BDVSC or your community court house.

6. Make a "safety plan". Include a safe place to call or go for yourself and your children. Pack and hide a bag with money, identification, important papers, extra keys, clothing and medication.

7. Talk with someone safe and supportive.
